Nonprofit Branding

Nonprofit Design

During my two years working at TMCC, I led the graphic design, copywriting, and marketing efforts in collaboration with the CEO, development director, and PR team to increase our community reach, raise funds, and develop an overall striking brand image. Take a look at some of the projects I worked on below.

Web Design

ResponsiveWebsite

One of my favorite projects to date, I led the complete redesign of TMCC’s website to better cater to potential donors, clients, and staff. I designed each page, using custom HTML and CSS styling, and worked with our digital consultant to develop a WordPress child theme adapted from HelpingHands. Unique features included parallax scrolls, responsive sizing, and interactive hero banners to highlight TMCC’s latest events, programs, and fundraising initiatives. We also instilled Google Analytics to track user paths and enhance our users’ experiences. After I left TMCC, I also created a custom handbook and style guide to ensure my successor could continue updating the website.

Event Branding

Over 42% of Los Angelenos are unable to afford the basic mental health services they need. TMCC’s annual fall gala raises funds so that they can continue to offer low-cost counseling programs to the great LA community. I worked with TMCC’s PR team to establish a new theme (“Access for All”) and logo. This bold branding not only brought attention to this gaping statistic by providing a direct visual representation, but it also exemplified TMCC’s fierce commitment to close the gap. I also designed and composed all event print and digital materials, which included the mailed invitations, e-mail marketing campaigns, a digital webpage, social media banners and posts, a tribute journal and corresponding digital slide show, and event posters.  We not only ended up with a fun and unforgetted packed night but also met our fundraising goal.

Social Media Campaigns

One of my first ventures while working at TMMC was creating an Instagram account. We spearheaded weekly and seasonal campaigns targeted at destigmatizing mental health and treatment on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. By the time I left, our followers increased by over 100%.

Print Materials

TMCC Posters

I also led the complete redesign of all print marketing materials, bringing attention to the importance of TMCC’s work by using bright colors, gradients, infographics, and striking visual representations of key marketing campaign slogans like “End the Silence.” It was not uncommon for postcards like those below to be clients’ first point of contact with TMCC. We shared these print materials with conferences, hospitals, and other like-minded medical practices.

Email Marketing

TMCC’s email marketing campaigns ranged from advertising fundraisers to announcing new programs to calls for interns. Often, the entire email list received every single email even if the topic at hand didn’t pertain to them. During my tenure at TMCC, we increased open rates by 2% after we began targeting specific groups, offering community podcasts and webinars, and expanding our reach to better include our staff, alumni, and the clients we serve.

It’s National Bullying Prevention Month, and TMCC is thrilled to introduce our new podcast series, “Speaking Up for Mental Health,” where we discuss all things mental health!

Listen to our inaugural episode here as our very own Susanna De Mari, LMFT, talks with TMCC’s Adolescent and Child Therapy Co-Program Coordinators, Nadia Akhtar Sim, LCSW, and Kim Low, LMFT, about bullying prevention awareness, cyberbullying, and how students, parents, and teachers can help.

We’ll be bringing you more episodes on diverse topics, so stay updated by following our podcast on Soundcloud here.

Feel free to share the podcast with family and friends!
