about.

Hi, I’m Nona, and I teeter between a writer, artist, and instructional designer. Originally from Far West Texas, these days, I reside in Austin with my corgi Winston. I hold an MFA in fiction from the University of Wyoming as well as a BA in English from the University of Southern California. My work has appeared in the Kenyon Review, Catapult, the Mid-American Review blog, Volume 1 Brooklyn, 7×7, and Joyland, among others. I’m also an assistant editor at American Short Fiction and a co-founder and co-host of the Austin-based DOWNPOUR reading series. In the past, I’ve also served as a West Editor for Joyland, a reader for Split/Lip Press, and a publicist for Rare Bird.

By day, I work as an instructional designer and freelance in graphic design, illustration, and editing, working primarily with independent publishers.

By night, I am working on a loosely linked collection of stories set in West Texas and a novel.
